Looks like an interesting new series featuring Dr. Robert Lustig is coming out on UCTV (University of California TeleVision). The first episode is available now, and seems to be quite good.
It starts with an examination of the historical context for obesity (there were obese people since time immemorial), then it goes on to examine:
- the whole “Calories In/Calories Out” model (fallacy)
- modern commercial food options engineered to keep you hungry and thirsty
- how the political context in America contributes to the obesity epidemic
- The question of whether obesity is a symptom of or cause of illness
If you’ve been following modern nutrition, none of this will be new to you. However, it’s still well worth the watch.
